From Burnout To Bliss: 5 Ways To Prioritise You

As a working mama, it's easy to feel like you're constantly juggling a million things at once.

Between work responsibilities, caring for your children, and managing a household, it's no wonder that many working moms find themselves feeling overwhelmed and burnt out. 🥴

Being a working mama myself I constantly find myself being pulled in multiple directions and it can be tough trying to keep up with it all and often it can feel like we’re not meeting the high expectation we put on ourselves but also that society and previous generations put on us.

Feeling like a failure, wondering how in the world does anyone else manage to do all the things and actually excel in anything…

Are we just setting ourselves up???

Is there a way to be a great mama, partner and business woman all at the same time???

Or do we have to choose what are of our life to sacrifice…

Im gonna vote for the dream of having it all, to know with all my being that it truly is possible to have it all, and to THRIVE in all areas of life.

Why???

Because I’ve always been a dreamer and magic was always real to me… What kinda stardust being would I be if I didn’t believe in the power we all have access to, the ability to find a way and to know that our desires are valid.

We do NOT have to keep self sacrificing and running ourselves into the ground. There is a way to have more balance and fulfilment in your life. to feel empowered and unstoppable.

Doesn’t mean we don’t have challenging days or experiences, it just means we got the knowing within us that we can handle it and the tools to support ourselves through it… Are you with me???

I hope so because I’ve got some solutions for you but you gotta know that it’s possible or at lease have that dream burning inside of you, that deep desire to find a way to thrive in life, to be the best mama, partner and business woman.

I honestly believe with a few simple changes to your routine, you can find a way prioritise YOU and your wellbeing that will allow you to find balance in your life.

Here are five ways to get started 🤍

Keep in mind this is just your starting point, we must break it down and take the pressure off, we don’t wanna add more to our plate but start to shift things around, tune in and explore new ways of navigating life that will support all areas of life.

1. First, We MUST Set Boundaries

One of the biggest challenges for working moms is setting boundaries. It's easy to feel like you need to be available 24/7, both at work and at home. But the truth is, you can't be everything to everyone all the time. Setting boundaries means being clear about your availability and saying no when you need to. This might mean turning off your work email after a certain time of day or delegating tasks to your partner or children. By setting clear boundaries, you can create space for yourself and reduce your stress levels.

2. Schedule "Me Time"

As a working mom, it's important to carve out time for yourself. Whether it's a weekly yoga class or an afternoon spent reading a book, scheduling "me time" is essential for your wellbeing. This might mean asking for help with childcare or rearranging your work schedule, but the benefits are worth it. Taking time for yourself can help you recharge, reduce stress, and improve your overall mood.

3. Prioritise Sleep

Sleep is crucial for our physical and mental health, yet it's often the first thing to go when we're busy. As a working mom, it's important to prioritize sleep and create a bedtime routine that helps you unwind. This might mean turning off electronics before bed, taking a warm bath, or reading a book. By prioritizing sleep, you'll feel more rested and better equipped to handle the demands of your day.

4. Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of being present and fully engaged in the current moment. As a working mom, it's easy to get caught up in thoughts about the past or worries about the future. But by practicing mindfulness, you can reduce stress and improve your overall wellbeing. This might mean taking a few minutes each day to meditate, practice deep breathing, or simply focus on your surroundings. By practicing mindfulness, you'll feel more grounded and centered, even in the midst of chaos.

5. Ask for Help

Finally, it's important to remember that you don't have to do it all alone. Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Whether it's asking a friend to watch your kids for a few hours or delegating tasks at work, asking for help can reduce your stress levels and help you feel more supported. Don't be afraid to reach out to others when you need it.

In conclusion, as a working mom, it's easy to feel like your needs come last. But by prioritizing your own wellbeing, you'll be better equipped to handle the demands of your day-to-day life. By setting boundaries, scheduling "me time," prioritizing sleep, practicing mindfulness, and asking for help, you can go from burnout to bliss and create a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Remember, taking care of yourself is the first step towards taking care of others.

It’s important to remember, as mothers we are role models, and if we’re constantly self-sacrificing and over giving to the detriment of our own health and well-being, this is what we’re teaching the next generation.

When you take care of you, you’re showing others that it’s not only okay but it’s ESSENTIAL for living a good life where we an truly thrive.

And think about it, how are we showing up for our family, partner, work and clients if we’re constantly, stressed, overwhelmed and exhausted. When you take care of you, you’re truly able to show up as your best self in all areas of life. It can be challenging when taking the first few steps, navigating guilt or slowing down the busy mind, overthinking the to do list, but stressing out is not helping you get things done faster, it actually prevents you from getting things done more efficiently and effectively.

Start small, carve out 10-15 mins a day just for you and see how even 10 mins a day shifts your life and how you interact with your loved ones, notice how you feel moving through your day.. It may take a week or two to see the shifts but stick with it for a month and see what happens..

You can always go back if it doesn’t work… But my bet is you won’t be going backwards, you’ll see the benefits and carve out even more time for you.
